This powder makes a huge difference in my old Remington 721 in .300 ICL. My 3 shot groups at 100 yards are all touching each other. when I fired other powders it felt like someone hit my receiver with a ball peen hammer. This is more of a push than a slam against your shoulder. It.s also my choice in heavy bullet .243 loads.

I use this in a Savage 111 lrh in 338 LM. I’m getting a 1/4 inch group at 100 yards. I’m using Lapua brass, Federal 215 gm primers, 300 gr Nosler accubonds. This is my go to load. Hope this helps.

Great powder. A guy at the range suggested using H1000 with 208gr bullet for 1000 yard shooting and this combo made a HUGE difference. I know hit 1000 yard targets consistently

I use this powder for reloading for my .338 lapua magnum. This has been a stable powder for me in this application.

H1000 has been my “go to powder” for large capacity magnums

    From Missoula, MT

    Verified Buyer

H1000 is the only powder that I’ll use in my .257 Wby Mag. Over the years it has proven to be best that I have ever used. it meters exceptionally well and is not temperature sensitive. It performs equally well in a dog town on long range shots in the summer and on mule deer in November. I also have had great success with it in a .28 Nosler as well. It’s great elk medicine!

  8. A A

    A real gem!

    From Idaho

I use this in my .270 Wby Mag, and it performs fantastic! Recoil seems slightly lower to me. I was able to get sub 3/4″ groups at 100 yards with 150 Berger VLDs, pushed at 3400fps. This is as good as I could ask for!

  9. Barrett

    Lapua .338

    From Texas

great powder for the 300 grain Lapua’s in the .338 Magnum. very tight group at respectable velocities.

  10. Jason B

    Accidentally found a gem.

    From Unionville, Missouri

I tried several different powders for my 270 win. with nothing that was satisfactory in the accuracy dept.By switching from 130 grain remington corelokts to 140 gr Hornady interlocks and 62.5 grains of H1000, I brought a 1.5″ 100 yd grouper down to 1/2 to 3/4 in groups and all at close to 3000 fps. I would have never tried this powder if my dad hadnt already had a lb sitting around to use in his 300 mag. Im glad I did and it wasnt long before an 8 lb jug was sitting in my reloading supplies. Deer fall where they stand these days with this load.

    Awesome Powder!

    From Olympia, WA

I was able to push 230gr Berger OTM’s at 2700FPS out of my .300 win mag with a 24″ barrel. This is a very stable powder that seems to not be very temperature sensitive. I was able to produce .6 MOA at 200yds with this powder. But the best part was that my total FPS spread was only 6FPS on that peticular 5 shot string! This is a great slow burning powder that is very forgiving. My next purchase of it will be the 8lb can of it!

  12. Darby Cole

    Awesome

    From Beaver Dam, Ky

I’ve used this in my Win Mod 70 in 7mm Rem Mag. In Win Brass with Sierra Game King 150 grain, I can get a consistent 3/4 inch at 100 yards at 3000 fps. I’m super happy with that. The recoil lick is notably easier on my shoulder also.

    From Indianapolis, IN

Typically I would say that Reloder 22 was the best powder for my 300 win mag, but now that hunting season is over I decided to test a heavier 200 grain Accubonds for long range performance, and to do this I tested 4 different powders: RE22, RE25, H4831, and H1000. All did ok but I was astounded by the group I shot with H1000, I couldn’t even measure it it was that tight! If you shoot heavy bullets (heavier than 180gr) use this powder, you won’t be disappointed!

    From Vine Grove, KY

Reloader 22 is my go to powder however I could not get them Speer 180 grain Mag Tips to group out of my .300 Win Mag. So I decided to go with Hodgdon’s H1000 and grouped them bullets in two different weights under a inch out to 100 yards. I also use this powder with Sierra 200 grain Game Kings. Buy a can you wont be disappointed….

    From Burlingame, Ca

This is the most accurate powder I’ve found for the heavier bullets in my Stevens 200 in .243 Win with a 26″ factory varmint barrel.Consistent 1/2 MOA with the 105 A-Max, Lapua brass and Fed 210M primers.

    From Lynnwood, Wa

Last year, I took my Remington 700 chambered in 300 Win Mag to the range and along with 6 powders. My plan was to have a shoot off and see which one shot the best in my rifle. Cleaning the rifle thoroughly between groups of course. The bullet used was a 168 grain Sierra MatchKing. The H1000 produced a 6 round, ragged hole. So tight that it was impossible to measure. Only the H4350 came close (another Hodgdon product). The rest of the powders were .75 to .5 MOA.

    Using 4831 in my 300 Win …

    From Leander, TX

Using 4831 in my 300 Win Mag had a average of 60-80 PSI spread at all temps. The higher pressures were eating up my brass. I switched to H1000 and the spread is down to 10 with no pressure signs and very accurate (180 SMK, 215M primer, RWS Brass). Works great for my 300 Win Mag Rem 700 Sendero!

    From Cojon, FL

One of the best powders I have used for my .300 Win Mag. I’ve chronographed my loads in temperatures ranging from 95F to 15F and my loads only lost about 30 fps making this powder very temperature stable. Although all of the extreme powders are touted as temperature stable, from my experience Hodgdon should only claim this when compressed loads are used. If they aren’t, you’ll notice extreme spreads start to open up as the temperature drops.

    From Hemet, ca

Interestingly, the H1000 is not the top choice for the 338 Lapua round in anyone’s books. However, I’ve found it to be the most consistent for my HS Precision. I’ve yet to spring for the (much costlier) Vihtavuori, but of the five other domestics I’ve experimented with, the H1000 is best.

    From Florence, KY

I have a Wild Cat chambered for a 6mm/.243 bullet pushed by H-1000 held in a necked down .264 Winchester Magnum case. Sierra 107 gr. HPBT Match King are pushed down range at 3800 ft/sec. H-1000 is the only powder that I have found with that PERFECT burn rate that finishes burning its last kernel of powder as the bullet leaves the 30″ barrel. I have tried ALL of the slow burning powders in many caliber/bullet weight combinations. Time after time “old reliable” H-1000 comes out on top with the best consistency shot to shot.

    From Lock haven, PA

This is an extruded powder that meters well and produces very good results. It is at it’s best in over bore cartridges when used with heavy bullets. It’s a real performer in my 25-06 with 120 Speer bullets.

    From Aledo, IL

The H1000 is a nice magnum powder for my Remington 700 Sendero chambered in 300 RUM. I’ve consistently had hand loads perform at half minute of angle out to 500 yards with 190 gr Matchking HPBT bullets. This was accomplished without loading down to increase stability.

This is probably the best powder I have used for my 1,000 yard rifle. it works great. It throws a 107 .243 at 3000 FPS

    From Del Rio, tx

This powder is stable and consistent. I’ve used it for both my .300 Win Mag (168 Win/Nosler HPBT) and my 6 mm Remington Mag (107 HPBT Sierra), killed deer with each of these loads this year.

    From Owego, NY

I have found a couple sweet spots with this powder for the 338 Lapua and 300 win mag. I’ll try it in WSM next. Where I have run into pressure problems with Retumbo I fall back on H1000. Seems to produce less felt recoil and when it works it gives very consistent sub moa groups.
